Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces growing in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The antagonist then cleared his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires revenge.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a dangerous place.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as important members in House Halovar could enable the party access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can expect discovering which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
